Let's Hear It For Some Girls' Names!

Well, I went and had an ultrasound done on Wednesday, and it's a girl! Yay! There's just one problem: Ican't think of a name. My husband's pretty much allowing me to choose, so he's pretty neutral about the whole thing; what a chicken! Lol! Anyway, so... I need some ideas. I want a first name and two middle names, so the more ideas, the better. Thanks in advance for your help. Let's have some fun!

Post 2 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Friday, 15-May-2009 18:14:28

what is your last name? I like to know the mother-to-be's last name because it helps me think of names more easily for the child whether it's a boy or girl.

Post 3 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 15-May-2009 18:26:13

Wow, what an open request!

Give us some guidance. Do you lean twards old fashion, trendy, way out there...?

Hmmm, two middle names...

Lol, for some reason Anne Marie Grace instently came into my head. Don't know why, that kind of sounds like two first with a middle name. *smile*

Are you into family history at all? I like to think of any old family names that may work for a first or middle. Also family sirnames can sometimes work for a baby name.

If I've coppied the following link correctly, it is one of my faves for names. You can either enter the name and find out the meaning, or the best option, enter in a meaning and find names that match!

Hey! Thanks for the link.
I'm not picky about the type of name; I just need a lot of suggestions. So I thought it'd be cool if you guys could just post your favorites and I can make a selection that way.
Some things to keep in mind if you can't think of any that you absolutely love:
1 My last name is Bryant
2 My son's name (Nathaniel) is a Hebrew name that means "God Has Given;" so if you have any biblical girls' names that you like, let me know because I might consider them as well
3 My first name ends in an I,so there are times I notice myself switching I's and Y's in names that I like such as Keri instead of Kerry or Alissa instead of Alyssa
4 I'm not too knowledgeable of either one of my family histories, my biological or my adoptive; so tracking names for me is kind of out of the question, although it's a neat idea
5 My favorite name categories are: Hebrew/Biblical, Arabic, gem names, nature names, Hawaiian, Celtic and some Sanskrit names I've found to be pretty too. Thanks in advance for your help.

Post 5 by TheAsianInvasion (The Zone's invader) on Saturday, 16-May-2009 2:11:46

I thought of some hawaiian names you could use:
Kailani, or Kalena, Lelani works too

Post 6 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 16-May-2009 18:29:10

Ok cool! Hmmm, I'm having a hard time thinking of the 2 middle name thing. Names like:
Mary Ellen, Mary Anne, and Mary Jane are coming to mind. Name combos. Lol, how southern do you want her to sound?

Gem names, now that is cool! I always thought Ruby was kind of cool, or to go really different Garnet.
How about Pearl? That is so gental and soft.

Biblical girl names: Rebecca, Ruth, Sarah; I like those because they are not too popular right now.

A couple little girls names I really like are: Abigail, and Olivia, but they are too darn popular!

How about, Ella, Octavia, Amilia, Melody, Annie.

Hey, give us an example of a two middle name. *smile*

I'll be back!

Post 7 by SEPTEMBER-TWILIGHT (CAN I TALK? PLEASE?) on Saturday, 16-May-2009 19:22:14

I personally like Amilia too, but spell Emilia, it's more unique that way. Gem names, I relaly emerald, it's really pretty. You can call her Emmy, for a nickname or something, lol. Marina is a pretty name too. Emily, angelina, christina, .... there's o amny pretty names out there, lol

Post 8 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 16-May-2009 23:30:05

Awww, I like Emerald; that's a good one! And nicknaming her Emie is adorible!

How about seasons? Autumn is my fave.

Place names? Georgia, Paris, China, I've heard of London for a girl...

I read your husband's name is Louis, have you considered Louise?

Ooh, Charlotte is another one I like a lot, but too popular for me right now. A little girl named Charlotte, nicknamed Charlie.

Lucy is cute.

Let's see can any of these go together?
Charlotte Ruby Louise
Emilia Emerald Grace
Sarah Elizabeth... Lea?

I just noticed the nature suggestion. Such as Robin, Ocia, Rose, Willow, Iris, Lorel, Magnolia.

Again, I'll be back...grin!

Post 9 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Monday, 18-May-2009 13:42:09

Don't worry so m*ch about coming up with two middle names. Just a list of your favorite names is just fine with me. I just said that I want two middle names because I think the more names I have to choose from, the better. Plus, if you come up with two names that go nicely together, let me know because I could use those as middle names. I don't particularly care for the old-style Southern names like Mary Lou and Jean Louise. So, just have fun, don't worry about the particulars. I just need some inspiration.

Post 10 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 18-May-2009 18:24:07

Some more place names: Savanah and Vienna.

On a couple road trips we have stopped off at Beckley West Verginia. I've kind of thought Beckley is cute, though I've always been fond of the name Becky. Lol, all my baby dolls were named Becky.

Here are some suggestions I found on that baby name site.
Kekona, Hawwiian for second daughter.

Gracella, Latin, Favor; blessing. The three mythological graces were nature goddesses: Aglaia: (brilliance);
Thalia: (flowering); and Euphrosyne: (joy).

Tivona, Hebrew, lover of nature.

Ainsley, Celtic, one's own meadow.
Amena, Celtic, honest woman.

Post 11 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Monday, 18-May-2009 21:47:14

Hmmm! well, if things go 100 percent smoothly with my current relationship with one Kristian Whawell, my daughter's going to be Emilia Suzannah Grace Whawell (pronounced Waywell). Her paternal Grandmother, Sue already has her knitting needles poised for action, she's hypothetically knitted 3 matinae jackets, lol. Other names I like though they're not necessarily biblical, are Mckenzie (J.K. Rowling's 4-year-old daughter's Mckenzie Jean Murray) terrible combination, can't stand it, but it goes well with Whawell for a boy's name, my future-intended son in fact, Mckenzie George Borris Whawell's cute, lol. Anyway, we're talking girlies here, so for other names, um, Ashah, (pronounced Asher) Ava, India, Jannah, Elsa, Ayla, Poppy, Francesca, Lillie, (also spelt Lilly or Lily, but I like the first spelling better, same with my future intended daughter, Emilia. I like seasons too, though I've only ever heard of Summer and Autumn as girl's names, lol. That'll be the day when I hear of two girls named Spring and Winter, lol.

Jen.

Post 12 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 18-May-2009 22:33:27

I've never met a Spring, but I new a Winter growing up. lol

I wonder how far I could go picking girl names I like alphabetically?

Let's see, I'll skip the letters I've already posted above...
Dallia, Flora, (there are so many variations on Flora, Florincia)
Hmmm, H is a hard one... Haylee, Hannah?
Ila, Jillian, Kate, Marggret, Neily,
Wow, Q baby girl names are hard to come by. *lol*
Hmmm, I think that is as far as I can go.

Hey, what are Nathaniel middle names? Also, do y'all call him Nathaniel, or does he have nicknames? Just curious. *smile*

I love names!!!!!! In fact I collect them!!!!!!! This is one of my favorite topics.

When I get to my home pc tonight, I will look up on my favorites list and send here a web site that a friend gave me. Not only does it list names and what they mean, but gives the most popular ones by decade. It is amazing to look at say 1900 and 2000 and see the changes. Also you can enter yours and find out how many other people in the US share it.

When deciding a name it is advised by the pros in this field to not pick your first and middle with the same amount of sylables as your last. Therefore jasmine ruby briant would be icky, but jasmine rose briant is a good pick.

the only winter i know is a guy who works for yahoo. he is one of those kids born to a flower child from the '60s who used to be my boss.

my favorite names for girls right now are jasmine, jade, and julia or julianne. i would love to have another girl and name her jasmine rose. ruby is another great name. jade ruby is another favorite.

Post 18 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 21-May-2009 12:18:25

turricane, I'm looking forward to your website post! I have visited a website that goes through the popular baby names over the last 125 years or so. It is so fun!

Jasmine is pretty and not too popular right now. Lol, can you tell I'm turned off by popularity. I think to be different, I'd spell Jasmine Jazmine. (J a z m i n e.) That way it is sorty of Jazzy...grin! Yep, I'm a dork!

I once wanted to learn about biblical names and saints. Did I go to the bible? No, I picked up a baby name book...lol! Silly huh?

I like the name Carolina and Carolyna. I've kind of thought the combo, Carolina Jazmine would be cool.

turricane, I also like the tid bit about the sylables. What fun this all is!

I just read a trilogy of books called the mark of the lion trilogy, and the main character in those was named Hadassah. I like Nowel (I think that's how you'd spell it anyway) for the middle name. So, Hadassah Nowel, and I also like the name Hannah Catherine, but that's just me.
Just a thought.

I've decided, I like Grace for a middle name. It fits nicely with so many other names.
Lydia Grace
Shelby Grace

Bridget
Myranda

Post 24 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Thursday, 06-Aug-2009 23:26:09

Ok! We have a name! Hannah Elizabeth Grace Bryant. Hannah means God is Grace. Elizabeth means Consecrated by God, and yes, I know Grace is redundant, but there it is. We may change the second middle name, but as of now, there it is.

Post 25 by torian princess (The original Blakanadian.) on Friday, 07-Aug-2009 0:14:18

Hannah elizabeth is pretty. I like it.

Post 29 by Miss Prism (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 09-Aug-2009 16:10:17

Well, you've no need of more names since you chose a very pretty one. For the entertainment of everyone else, and just for the fun of it, and because I'm coming late to this thread, I'll list my favorites. (and I really do like the one you've picked; I'm partial to traditional names.)

My list:
Rosabel (This will be my daughter's name, should I have one. I saw it in a nineteenth century novel, and loved it immediately, in part because I've never heard of it before, it's similar to Isabel, which I love, and certainly not as common as Isabel's come to be.)
Sharon
Clarisse
Bernice
Lorraine
Susannah
Amelia

My sister, who had a boy, would have named her daughter Jaden Rose. She liked new/trendy type names, so I was happy she liked my suggestion of Rose for a middle name. Not quite as dull and over-used as Anne, Lynn, Grace, etc.

And I hope all goes well with your new little girl!

Post 30 by OrangeDolphinSpirit (Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how popular it remains?) on Monday, 10-Aug-2009 12:25:22

Awww, congratulations, Brandi. I didn't know you were expecting again. And a girl! Now you'll have one of each. Grins.
It's funny, because I was just about to suggest Hannah Elizabeth, but you beat me to it! Haha. That name is beautiful!

Post 31 by fiddler (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 10-Aug-2009 18:14:03

Oh no. lol. That's my daughter's name. Hannah Elizabeth. She will be three in December. It's such a lovely name. Congratulations on your baby girl.
Lizzy

Congratulations on picking out a name! Hannah Elizabeth Grace is lovely!

Post 33 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Wednesday, 26-Aug-2009 1:26:30

Oh Lizzy! I'm sorry! Lol. Well, I guess you and I have good taste then? Lol. I forgot your daughter's name was Hannah. I hate it when people take my names, too, so I understand. It's funny because my husband and I were kind of waffling a bit because we think Hannah might be Hannah #4 in her class and that would suck. There is a name that we've thrown around a bit, but it just doesn't sound good with Bryant. I found it on a website of Biblical Names: It's Neriah which mean Light; Lamp of the Lord. We were thinking of Neriah Caitlin Grace Bryant. But, I think we've swung back to Hannah again. Sighs. I guess you won't know her truename till she's born. Poor kid.

Post 34 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 26-Aug-2009 16:21:19

Neriah, that is different and nice. I've heard of Miriah, but not Neriah.

Caitlin is a breath of fresh names. It seemed to go through a big popularity, but I haven't heard it for years.

I quite like the combo Caitlin Grace. Sheesh, what is it with that Grace name, it flows so nicely with many names.

Hey, if you go with Neriah, both kids will have an N name. *smile*

Post 35 by Polka dots and Moonbeams (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 26-Aug-2009 16:34:59

Awww, I didn't know that Abigail meant source of joy. So cute! Abigail was always one of my faves.

Martha means royal lady. *grin*

Here's a website you may already have:

Neriah grace Briant is pretty, I think.

Post 37 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Tuesday, 15-Sep-2009 14:09:07

I told you I would post her official name after she was born, but since we have it, I figured I'd post it now. She will be here the 23rd and her name is: Hannah Amyah Katelyn Bryant. Amyah is pronounced Amiah.
